No official December 2014 meeting

There will be no official meeting of the London Shogi Club in December as Caffe Nero will be rather full of shoppers. However, it's always possible that players may arrange to meet up in the gap between Christmas and New Year. If people are doing this it might be a good idea to put a comment on our Facebook page to let people know.

Shogi at the Mind Sports Olympiad on 20.08.2014

There is an opportunity to play Shogi (as well as many other games including Go, Othello, Chinese Chess, Entropy and Lines of Action) at the Mind Sports Olympiad, being held from 17-25 August at JW3 on London's Finchley Road. The Shogi event is on Wednesday 20th August starting at 7pm. See the MSO website or the JW3 website for details.

While players are welcome to attend, we are not able to guarantee that there will be other players or boards. If you do want to come along, we recommend that you bring your own board and pieces, and if possible, contact another player to make sure you have a game.

Reminder: Walthamstow Shogi Tournament will be on 12 April 2014

As announced in March, a one day shogi tournament is being held in Walthamstow,  East London on Saturday 12th April.

The venue is the Welcome Centre, 8 Church End, Walthamstow, E17 9RJ. More information on getting to the venue will be added in the comments below.

We have 10 confirmed players and some other players may be able to attend. If you would like to enter but have not already contacted us, please email Steven Cain, webmaster at Shogi London.

There will be an entry fee of £10 payable at the venue. There will be no cash prize but there may be book prizes or other goodies.

We hope to play 5 or more rounds between 1000 and 1800, with all players playing in each round. The time limits will be 20 minutes plus 40 seconds byoyomi.
